'Braindead' Woman Woke As Doctors Took Her Organs

Colleen S. Burns was admitted to a hospital in New York where doctors made a series of mistakes and a misdiagnosis which eventually led to them believing she was brain dead.

Despite the protests of a nurse who had seen the patient pass a reflex test that same day, surgeons took her to the operating theatre to prepare her organs for donation.

It wasn’t until the surgery had started that Miss Burns opened her eyes for the first time in weeks.

The surgery was stopped before any organs were removed, but what a sight to wake up to!
