Adopted schoolgirls 'alive' & deal is 'within reach' - hostage negotiator claims

A hostage negotiator in direct contact with the kidnappers of more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria tells Channel 4 News their safe release is "within reach", but that their fate rests on a knife-edge.
The girls, we believe, are alive but they have been moved from the location to which they were originally taken," the intermediary told Channel 4 News. "It would not be hard to engineer a deal. It looks like they want to release them."
The kidnappers have warned, however, that attempts by the military to launch a rescue attempt "may result in the deaths of many of the captives".
They want a way out," said the negotiator, who has long experience of dealing directly with the Islamist group Boko Haram in previous hostage crises.
Boko Haram translates as "western education is forbidden" and, like the Taliban, the group opposes the education of Muslim girls, particularly if that education has western influence.
Dolce and Gabba found guilty of Tax Evasion
Creative Directors of D&G, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been found guilty of tax evasion to the tune of $1.3bn. The verdict was announced this afternoon after hours of consideration by a three-judge panel who decided to uphold last June's guilty verdict that saw the designers both sentenced to 20-months in prison for allegedly committing tax evasion, Vogue UK reports.
The alleged crime is said to have been a result of the sale of their Dolce & Gabbana and D&G brands to the Luxembourg-based holding company Gado Srl in 2004.
Dolce & Gabbana have always denied the charges and promptly appealed last year's decision with their legal representative. But the appeal has been denied and both men are now facing prison time

Diddy leads the pack with an estimated fortune of $700 million, an increase of $120 million over his net worth last year. The change comes largely from the addition of Revolt TV—the new, music-focused, multi-platform channel of which he’s the majority owner—to his already-hefty portfolio.

Photos: Fire guts PDP National Secretariat in Abuja
The headquarters of the PDP, Wadata House in Wuse Zone 2 Abuja was gutted by fire around 8.15 Monday night. A section of the building, which the party uses as its press center, was completely razed.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisah Metuh, confirmed the incident and said it was not sabotage, but electrical fault. He said the fire started from an air-conditioning unit in one of the cabins and had been put under control by men of the Federal Fire Service.
“The PDP rules out any form of sabotage or attack and hereby wishes to inform all our members and teeming supporters that the fire has since been put under control,’’ Metuh said in a short statement.

Bomb Explosion at Nyaya Near Abuja
Bomb exploded in a densely populated area in Nyaya, near Abuja.The blast occured around 6.30am. According to an eye witness, an improvised explosive device in a luxury bus belonging to federal capital territory exploded making a huge sound which make people to run in all direction for safety.
Most of the other vehicles around the premises was set ablaze as a result of the explosion. No details of the casualties yet but the men of the federal fire service are battling to contain the situation.
At least 50 people have died from the blast.

Nigerian Man Detained For Tweeting Jail Break Photos Released
Yusuf Isiaka Onimisi “Ciaxon”, the Nigerian man abducted by the State Security Service (SSS) for tweeting live photos of a terrorist jailbreak at their headquarters has been released according to family members.
Mr. Onimisi's arrest sparked a twitter campaign for his freedom, also, Amnesty International joined the campaign yesterday leading to international media attention about his ordeal.

It is this same set of comedians that went around telling people that I live in Abuja so that I will not be getting Lagos shows. My colleagues want to run me down, let them feel free. It is because they are afraid of me; they feel that if they run me down I won’t survive it. I am a gadget lover, that is the truth. Everyone knows that whenever I walk into a gadget shop the people there want me to educate them about some of their gadgets. 'Game of Thrones' Back For Two More Seasons
Hit HBO television show ‘Games of Thrones’ was renewed for two more seasons, two days after its latest series opened with a bang that crashed the broadcaster's online app, Times Live reports.
Sunday's fourth season debut drew 6.6 million viewers, the most for the pay-channel since the finale of HBO cult hit The Sopranos was watched by 11.9 million people in 2007, the broadcaster said.
"Game of Thrones is a phenomenon like no other," said HBO Programming boss Michael Lombardo, announcing that HBO had renewed it for a fifth and sixth season.
