Kate, 31, gave birth to a 8 pound 6 ounce healthy baby boy on July 22 at 4:24 p.m. local time, and the couple officially released the following statement to the public.
“We could not be happier,” said Prince William immediately following the birth. And he is not the only one who is excited!
In an official press statement following the news of the birth of his first grandson, Charles, Prince of Wales shared some touching words of pride:
Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy. Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.
As excited as we all are for the royal baby — there was even celebration in the streets of London after the birth announcement — it’s obvious there’s no joy like parents experiencing the birth of a child.
