A murder investigation has been launched by police after a woman was attacked and killed in Waltham Forest.
Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at 4.30am yesterday morning to reports of a stabbing at an address in King Edward Road, Leyton.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service said a 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
He said next of kin have been informed and the deceased has been identified as Linah Keza, who lived at the address in King Edward Road.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for 11am today at Walthamstow Mortuary.
The Met spokesman said detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody at a north London police station.
The spokesman added: “The Metropolitan Police Service has referred matters in connection with this incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission as is mandatory, namely around previous contact by police between the arrested man and the 29-year-old victim.
