Ronaldo Breaks 11-year-old boy’s Arm in Friendly Match

Cristiano Ronaldo: footballer, icon, and tormentor of young Bournemouth fans.
Not intentionally, of course, but the Portuguese superstar hit the headlines on Wednesday morning after it emerged that his wayward free kick during Real Madrid's friendly against Bournemouth at the weekend left one fan nursing a broken wrist.
11-year-old Charlie Silverwood was at Dean Court for the Cherries' pre-season friendly against the Spanish giants, and was delighted to have scored seats right behind the goal.
Six minutes in, however, his prime seats proved to be a liability as a Ronaldo free kick - struck at full power from 35 yards - dipped over the goal and smashed young Charlie on his left arm.
The shot left his wrist broken in two places, but the brave Bournemouth fan refused to leave the ground to get medical help - and no wonder, considering the outrageous ticket prices.
"I could see the ball coming towards me. It curled past the post and was going to hit my face — so I had to block it with my hand," Charlie told The Sun, before going on to explain that his dad, Lee, could have stepped in to stop the injury happening.
"My dad was sat next to me and ducked out of the way so I took the full force."
Charming, eh? Poor little Charlie. But he was just grateful that it wasn't worse.
"If I didn't put my wrist out in front of me I'd have ended up with no front teeth," he told Sky News.
He stayed to watch the final 84 minutes of the match before going to hospital, where it emerged that his wrist was broken in two places.
That alone is something to consider next time you lambast a footballer for flinching out of the way while making up part of a free kick wall.
The story has a happy ending, however: Real Madrid organised a signed Ronaldo shirt for Charlie, while Bournemouth sent him a ball signed by the team.

PHOTO: USA Donate Bomb-Disposal Equipment To Nigerian Police Force

As part of efforts at strengthening the capacity of the Nigeria Police personnel at tackling terrorism and other contemporary security challenges in Nigeria, the US Department of State, yesterday, 23rd July, 2013 at the FHQ Abuja donated Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) remote control robots to the Nigeria Police Force. The robots are capable of carrying out safe detonation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and can demobilize explosives-laden vehicles among others.

While demonstrating the capacity of the robots during a formal. presentation of the equipment to the IGP, a Nigeria Police. EOD robot technician stated that the device can locate and defuse suspicious and hazardous explosive items from remote places and is als o capable of firing “disrupters” and delivering counter IED charges that can demobilize and render an IED safe.
The IGP expressed his immense gratitude to the donor and promised to put the robots to effective use across the country. He enjoined other wealthy countries/individuals as well as corporate organizations to take a cue from this United States’ gesture and join hands in supporting the Police and other security agencies in the fight against crime, as the task of securing our country is a collective responsibility and not that of the Government alone.

I Did Not Send my Mother-in-Law Packing – Joseph Yobo

A few weeks ago, there were reports that made its way online that the super eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, who is married to Adaeze Igwe, had sent his mother in law out of the house after numerous arguments.
Well he’s not taking too0 kindly to those reports as he can categorically stated that no such thing happened and is threatening to sue those who put that information out.
In an interview he stated that ”There’s is no iota of truth in the report that has gained grounds of recent. There was no encounter of the such that was described to have happened between my mother-in-law and I’. We as a family are in the best of place in our lives currently. Someone from some place, just sat down and decided to construct a lie: a total fabrication from their own imagination.”
He further stated “I love my wife and I love her very much, nothing anyone does can bring any division between us and between our families. The Yobos & the Fashanus have a great relationship, a fantastic one at that and very good mutual respect for each other, and we thank God for that.”
The defender currently plays for the Turkish giant Fenerbahce FC.
